The Rongai Route is the unique route that approaches Kilimanjaro from the north, near to the Kenyan boarder. This route still technical experiences low crowds, the path has a more gradual slope compare to other mountain’s routes. It is the favorite route for those considering for an alternative to the popular Marangu route, the north side receives less precipitation and remote.
Rongai is a difficult route, but moderate and it is highly recommended for those who have less backpacking experience. Rongai you will be walking through true wilderness area for nearly the entire way. The Marangu route will be the descent way.

Habitat: Rain Forest
You will leave early morning from Moshi to Marangu gate for permit verification, then you will take a short transfer to The Rongai Gate Trailhead. You will be walking gently near the fields of corn and potato then go through the forest and see home of variety of wildlife like the black and white colobus monkey.

Second Cave to Kikelewa Cave
Elevation: 11,300 ft to 11,811 ft

Today it will be a steady incline up to Second Cave, we will start in morning. We will be trekking through moorland, abandoning the main trail instead of a smaller path towards the jagged peaks of Mawezi, later you will arrive at Kikelewa Caver for the night.
Kikelewa Cave to Mawenzi Tarn
Elevation: 11,811 ft to 14,160 ft
Distance: 5 km | 3 miles

Habitat: Alpine Desert
Today will be the hike day to a short and steep up a grassy slope. You will see a lovely view of the wilderness area. This day will be moving from the heath zone and emerge through the Alpine Desert. In after couple of Kilometers you will reach in your camp situated beneath the jagged spires of Mawenzi, at Mawenzi Tarn.

Mawenzi Ridge to Mawenzi Tarn

Today will be a day for acclimatization and day of hiking on Mawenzi Ridge. The only one landscape that offer you a good motivation view of Kibo and Mawenzi. Once you done spending a few good exploring the area you will go back to Mawenzi tarn for camp.

We depart for climbing slowly, then traverse the lunar desert of the “Saddle” in the middle of Mawenzi and Kibo. The Kibo huts is situating at the bottom of the Kibo Crater Wall. Upon arrival we will relax and waiting for an early dinner then preparing for the summit day

Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut
Elevation (ft): 19,341 ft to 12,250 ft
Distance: 16 km | 10 miles

Around midnight we will start walking to the summit. Today will be the most of mentally and physically challenging day of the trek. The weather can be wind and cold at this elevation and time day can be radical. We climb in darkness for several hours and friendly break near Stella Point – 18900 ft upon there you see a marvellous sunrise coming from Mawezi Peak. Finally, we reach the top at Uhuru Peak- Kilimanjaro the highest point and continent of Africa. After the summit, we will descent straight to Horombo Hut. Today will be your last dinner on the mountain and good sleep.

The day 7 is our last day we will have a long trek through the tropical rainforest and trek will be downhill up to the park headquarters at Marangu gate for collection of our certificates. Then driver back the Hotel in Moshi.
